Οι Evanescence είναι ένα nu metal συγκρότημα που δημιουργήθηκε το 1995, από την τραγουδίστρια του συγκροτήματος Amy Lee και τον πρώην κιθαρίστα Ben Moody, στο Λιτλ Ροκ (Little Rock) του Αρκάνσας στις ΗΠΑ. Αφού ηχογράφησε δύο EP (Evanescence EP, Whisper/Sound Asleep EP) και το demo CD Origin, το συγκρότημα κυκλοφόρησε το 2003 το πρώτο του άλμπουμ, το Fallen, το οποίο πούλησε πάνω από 7 εκατομμύρια αντίτυπα στις Η.
Evanescence (άλμπουμ)
To άλμπουμ Evanescence αποτελεί το τρίτο κατά σειρά για το συγκρότημα, μετά το The Open Door. Αρχικά, η κυκλοφορία του είχε προγραμματιστεί για το φθινόπωρο του 2010, αλλά αναβλήθηκε λόγω διαφόρων συνθηκών, που οδήγησαν το συγκρότημα σε επιμήκυνση του χρόνου προετοιμασίας, καθώς και στην αλλαγή παραγωγού. Στις 11 Απριλίου 2011, το συγκρότημα ξαναμπήκε στο στούντιο και η Amy Lee ανακοίνωσε τον Ιούνιο πως το νέο album θα κυκλοφορούσε τον Οκτώβριο.
